These are modular multiplication circles, also known as times-table circles. At a multiplier of 2, the lines outline a heart-shaped cardioid (opens in a new tab). Try 3 for a two-lobed nephroid, then explore the shapes in between.

Straight lines gather into curves, then loosen into something new. I like how a small change can turn a familiar shape into a surprising one: a little order, a little play, and room to get lost in the details.
